Pool chemicals can be dangerous if mishandled. MyPoolGuy provides recommendations based on standard industry chemistry formulas, but cannot account for all variables in your specific pool environment. Always exercise caution when handling pool chemicals.
For the following situations, consult a licensed pool professional:
Use the Find a Pro feature in the app to locate verified service companies near you.
When large amounts of chemicals are recommended, MyPoolGuy automatically splits doses to ensure safe application:
When CYA (cyanuric acid), calcium hardness, or TDS (total dissolved solids) levels are extremely high, the only solution is a partial drain and refill. MyPoolGuy will alert you when this is necessary.
Draining a pool improperly can cause structural damage — including the pool shell lifting out of the ground. Always consult a professional before draining.
Green water, cloudy water, pink slime, and black algae treatments may require multiple rounds of treatment. If conditions do not improve after following treatment plans, contact a pool professional for an in-person assessment.
MyPoolGuy does not provide health or medical advice. If you experience skin irritation, respiratory issues, or other health concerns related to pool water or pool chemicals, consult a healthcare provider immediately.
